EXPERIENCE IS PEACE
EXPERIENCE IS PEACE
Experience
is very important in our lives for peaceful living! A common sense without practice is no sense: experience without practice
is inexperience. I learnt some safety measures from my three missing
phones in a taxi, that I want to share with the general public. My third phone
would not have gotten missing if I was continuously practicing from the
experience of my second missing phone. I used to make sure that I keep the
registration number of every vehicle that I travel with, and I was always
following some Ten Safety Measures. Unfortunately, on the 21st of
this month I rushed into a taxi without checking the number.
When
I got to my destination too, I rushed out again without following those safety
measures; not knowing that I’ve left my phone in it. By the time I realized
that my phone has fallen inside, it has sped off. I called many times when it
was moving, but he did not pick. I have learnt that the experiences that we
gather in life can give us peace, but only when we learn from them and keep practicing
them. I would not have had lost my phone again if I was always practicing what
I have learnt from my past experience.
Before
I talk about these Ten Safety Measures, Ghana has gone through many democratic
elections’ experiences. As a result, she has gained a reputation for herself as
the “Beacon of hope for Africa” (GNA, 2013). This is an admirable and envious
reputation worth protecting, but we should aim at becoming the beacon of hope
of the world! To protect and improve this beautiful reputation, we must learn
from our past experiences, correct our mistakes, and make election 2020 even
fairer, more transparent, more beautiful and PEACEFUL than before. It is not
all the times that we must learn from the Western Nations; sometimes they can
also ask, “How did you do it?”.
Ten
Safety Measures to practice before and after boarding a taxi this Christmas
Season and beyond.
1. Take
notice of the taxi registration number before you enter,
2. Check
yourself to confirm what you went out with, if any gets missing, you will know
where it got missing and trace it.
3. Do
not remove the whole bulk of your money in a taxi, whether there are other
passengers or not,
4. Do
not unnecessarily show any other valuables like phones or laptops in a taxi,
5. Be
careful with your utterances in a taxi, especially on phone or with another
passenger(s),
6. Respect
your co-passengers and driver, but do not trust them too much.
7. Avoid
engaging a any driver in a conversation whilst he/she is driving,
8. Stop,
alert colleagues or get out of the taxi (SAG), if a driver is drunk and wants
to drive,
9. Check
yourself again to confirm what you have, before you get out of a taxi or any moving
vehicle.
Take notice of the
taxi’s registration number again, before you move away.
